What is Linear Strip Lighting?

Linear strips are widely used in a variety of lighting scenarios. In its simplest form, it is a metal housing that protects the ballast and electrical connections from human contact while providing a source of light and a method of connecting it to electricity. Linear strip lighting is usually constructed from 20 or 22ga pre-painted white sheet metal. The primary light source is a fluorescent lamp, but a sharp increase in utilizing LEDs is on the horizon due the energy efficiency of the solid state light source. The light fixture can be wired directly to a standard power source, but a multitude of powder cords and connectors are available.
